Read To Achieve
The goal of this program “is to ensure that every student read at or above grade level by the end of third grade and continue to progress in reading proficiency so that he or she can read, comprehend, integrate, and apply complex texts needed for secondary education and career success.”
School Improvement Planning
The North Carolina General Assembly requires schools across the state to write improvement goals and identify strategies for reaching these goals. NC Star is North Carolina’s system for continuously and systematically managing school improvement planning.
School improvement planning provides a mechanism for identifying needs and establishing a common approach to meeting those needs at the school level. These goals and strategies are compiled in the School Improvement Plan (SIP). Effective school improvement planning contributes to overall school performance by:
Planning Committee:
NDS Director
NDS Teachers/Teacher Assistants
NDSBoard Member(s)
Review Cycle:
The School Improvement Plan is reviewed approximately every 3 years.
