Hello NDS Families! I am a Morganton native, graduating from Freedom High School, Appalachian State University and the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill with degrees in Physical Education, Elementary, Middle and Administration. I’m also a 21st Century Literacy Coach through the NC Department of Public Instruction.

My career novel contains quite a few chapters:

  • The Early Years: I taught everything from High School English to every middle school subject imaginable in Caldwell County and Walter Johnson Middle.

  • The Leadership Era: Served as an Instructional Facilitator/Literacy Coach and Assistant Principal in Caldwell County and later as a principal in Burke County until 2023.

  • The Military Period: I proudly served for 30 years in the North Carolina Air National Guard as a C-130 and C-17 Loadmaster, retiring in 2022. I completed my military career with over 4,500 flight hours, including more than 700 hours in active combat zones in the Middle East.

  • The New Dimensions Chapter: I couldn't stay away! I joined New Dimensions as a 6th-grade teacher in 2023 and stepped into the Curriculum Director role in 2025.

In my role as Curriculum Director, I’m honored that my present chapter gets to serve as a prologue for our students, helping to set the stage, shape the plot, and provide the tools they need to write their own incredible life stories.

When I’m not being a total teaching strategy geek, you can find me living the country life in Collettsville with my husband, Chuck, and our two doodles. I also love to spend time with our two daughters’ families. Whenever I unwind, I hunt for live music and travel.

Go, Warriors!
