Kristin Harrison is an educational technology leader, author, advocate, photographer, wife, and mom who believes deeply in the power of education to shape a student’s confidence, opportunities, and future.

Since joining the North Carolina School of Science and Mathematics (NCSSM) in 2022, Kristin has served as IT Applications Administrator and now Director of IT Customer Service.She is passionate about learning, technology, service design, automation, and making technology easier, friendlier, and more human for the people it serves.

Before NCSSM, Kristin supported distance learning at Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute. Her work was featured by Open LMS in eLearn Magazine, she was named CCC&TI Colleague of the Year in 2020, and she served the North Carolina distance learning community through leadership roles with NC3ADL, including President.

Kristin is especially passionate about accessibility, Universal Design for Learning, student support, and family engagement. As the parent of a medically fragile child, she understands firsthand the importance of ensuring every student is seen as an individual with unique strengths, challenges, and potential. She believes accessibility is more than compliance—it's a mindset focused on removing barriers and creating opportunities for everyone to participate and thrive.

She holds associate degrees in Computer Programming, Elementary Education, and General Education from Caldwell Community College & Technical Institute; a Bachelor of Science in Business Education with a concentration in Information Technologies from East Carolina University; and a Master of Science in Management Information Systems with a concentration in Cybersecurity from Bellevue University.

Kristin brings strategic thinking, technology leadership, communication, advocacy, accessibility awareness, and compassionate service to the Board. She is committed to supporting strong governance, meaningful family engagement, and a school culture where every student is challenged, included, supported, and encouraged to reach their fullest potential.

Above all, Kristin's favorite titles are wife and mom. She and her husband, Brandon, married in 2007, and their daughter, Ella, is her greatest joy. She also enjoys traveling, writing, and capturing life's meaningful moments through photography.
