Chad Towery brings 32 years of law enforcement and public safety experience to his work protecting students and school communities. Over the course of his career, he has served as a Deputy Sheriff with the Alexander County Sheriff’s Office, handling patrol, court security, and jail operations, and spent nearly a decade as a part-time Police Officer and School Resource Officer with United Special Police. In that role, he worked directly inside schools, building trust with students, teachers, and staff while keeping campuses safe, a responsibility that combines law enforcement, mentoring, and crisis readiness.

Earlier in his career, Chad served as a Correctional Superintendent II with the NC Department of Correction, where he oversaw daily operations for an 83-person team and led the Western Region Prison Emergency Response Team, giving him a strong background in emergency response and safety planning.

Chad holds a Bachelor of Arts in Economics and Business from UNC Charlotte and an Associate Degree in Accounting from Gaston College, along with his BLET certification and an Advanced Certificate in Corrections from the State of North Carolina.

Outside of work, Chad is a devoted family man. He is married to his high school sweetheart of 32 years. He and his family include two daughters, one a resident physician and the other a teacher, a grandson, and two grand dogs who keep him busy at home. Chad has been a sports official since 1991, calling baseball, softball, and basketball. Chad is a foodie and can always listen and talk about local hometown restaurants across North Carolina.
